In recent years you may have noticed the rise in stained roofs with black discoloration. The technical term for this is called "Gloeocaspa Magma". These black stains are actually algae that spread from roof to roof. This started after shingle manufactures switched to a fiberglass mat backing for shingles. In this new process they use limestone, which is blue-green algae favorite food. Modern Edge Power Washing offers a permanent solution for this wide spread problem. We follow strict guidelines from A.R.M.A (American Roofing Manufacturer's Association) for a proper cleaning process. First, we have to kill the algae by applying a nontoxic cleaning agent to your roof with a short dwell time. Then, we rinse using very low pressure to remove the solvents and algae. This is followed by another treatment that prevents the growth of algae, moss and lichen colonies.
